Bob Whelan brings over 35 years of corporate finance and investment banking experience to Black Point Partners. Bob is currently chairman of Aspen Technologies board of directors. From 2001 to 2017, Bob was President of Whelan & Company, which provided financial consulting, valuation and strategic services to public and private companies.

Bob was Vice Chairman, Prudential Volpe Technology Group formed when Prudential acquired Volpe Brown Whelan & Company in 1999. He was a senior executive with Volpe Brown Whelan, a technology and health care investment bank. Previously, Bob was Managing Director, New York Regional and High Technology Groups at Prudential Securities, and Managing Director and Head of Corporate Finance at Hambrecht & Quist, Inc.

Bob received a B.A. in history from Dartmouth College and a M.B.A. from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
